Cheers to seven incredible years of Simply Audree Kate! Today, on our blog anniversary, we are launching our second digital magazine, The Simply Audree Kate Summer Edit!
This past November I published our first magazine, The Holiday Edit. I grew up devouring fashion magazines cover to cover and my dreams came true when I moved to New York City in 2015 to start my career in editorial magazines. I knew the print industry was drastically changing before my eyes, but there was still a nostalgia, a moment of peace, lust and wander when you creased open the cover of your new magazine and slowly flipped through beautiful editorials and pretend I was adding all the designer must-haves items the editor’s selected to my pretend shopping cart. I would study the editor’s letter, the creative concepts behind the photoshoots and how each model moved in photos. It was the best education and escape I could ask for growing up.
When I left my editorial job, I started dreaming of what could be next for magazines. People were hardly buying a print magazine or converting the shopping pages into sales, readers trusted their friends or bloggers and the entire media industry was quickly moving to digital. I loved the idea of combining all of these things into one, a digital magazine.
I loved the aspect of working at a print magazine and reviewing design layouts, creating photoshoots and finding the best trends and items for readers. It was more in-depth and creative than a blog post and I wanted to bring both of my worlds together through this concept. I quickly put together the Holiday Edit in November with my team and I was shocked by the response. I knew on the launch day that I wanted to create a summer magazine.
I rounded up my team, photographer, editors, designers and we produced the Summer Edit for you! I am so grateful and proud of the work we put together in this beautiful 100+ page magazine for you and I cannot wait for you to flip through the pages, read about our team’s favorite trends and items this season and some exciting things we are working on this year!
