Layers in the summer? Who does that? As you can probably guess, I do. I’m a total layers girl – I love piling on the accessories, jacket and jewelry; so sometimes I feel stumped while getting dressed during the hot days of summer. If you’re like me, and your outfits thrive in the layer-appropriate fall season, I’m here to help! My solution to wearing layers during the summer is by layering with light-weight pieces. I paired this sheer vintage DKNY shirt from ThredUp (an online consignment store) with my new Rachel Roy crop top. I left the blouse half way unbuttoned and layered a light-weight pleated skirt with the look. This look is cool enough for a warm summer day, but still covered enough for the office.
Another way I manage to layer in the summer, is with loose-fitting pieces such as a shift dress, skirt, oversized blouse or t-shirt – this way the layers aren’t clinging to your body and making you feel too hot. So there you have it folks, stick with light-weight and loose-fitting pieces when you’re wanting to layer in the summer. Keep a light-weight denim jacket or blazer to throw over your shoulder at the office if you’re cold, and you can also strip the layers post-work for a night out! Happy Monday! xo
