How I Stay Connected with My Alma Mater Through the Sun Devil Rewards App

As some of you may or may not know, I was born and raised in Arizona and went to Arizona State University for college. I studied Marketing and Journalism, and the summer between my freshman and sophomore of school, I launched SAK! I started the blog as a creative outlet, resume builder and a “cooler” substitute for LinkedIn. I absolutely loved my time at ASU and I am a proud Sun Devil!

When I first moved to New York, I only knew a couple of acquaintances. I remember my first week in the city I went to an ASU Alumni happy hour event and football viewing, and it felt like I was walking into my best friend’s home. Even though I was in a room full of strangers, it was oddly comfortable since we all had this connection through ASU. During the past two years a New Yorker (can I even call myself that now?) I have met a ton of new friends, and even some fellow ASU alum! Since I don’t get to go home to Arizona as often as I would like, I try to keep a small part of the desert with me on a daily basis. I still rep ASU t-shirts while running errands or at the gym (I’ve met fellow Sun Devils that way!), I have a couple of cacti in my apartment, and lastly, I keep up-to-date with what’s happening at ASU and in Tempe through social media. So when ASU recently reached out to me about how they were helping alumni get more connected to the ASU community through the Sun Devil Rewards App, I was really excited!

The Sun Devil Rewards App is a super easy and fun way to help alumni stay connected through news, events and the best part? ASU swag! Through the app, you can redeem ‘Pitchfork’ points to win custom ASU gear and attend exclusive events! You can win points by attending an ASU event, or if you’re not local, like myself, you can tweet and share events on social media, post photos, answer trivia questions, and so much more! If you download the app today, you can redeem 400 pitchforks by using my secret word “LOVEPITCHFORK”. The lowest-valued item on the app is 500 pitchforks, so in addition to my code, you can redeem 50 points when you register, and other 50 points for linking your social media accounts.
