Happy Memorial Day! I hope you’re all enjoying your long weekend and getting a much needed break. I ended up staying in the city this weekend since I feel like I’ve been on-the-go the past month, but I’m definitely getting the travel itch again! This week I’ll be sharing a behind-the-scenes look at my Arizona trip earlier this month, two hotel diaries posts and a little vlog! First up, is today’s hotel diary post about Mountain Shadows, a new resort in Paradise Valley, Arizona!
Mountain Shadows Resort originally opened in 1959 and was one of the premier resorts of the Southwest, known for its modern design and stunning location. The resort has now been completely rebuilt from the ground up; and I truly fell in love with the distinctive design, modernism and how luxurious the resort felt. To be honest, I didn’t want to check out at the end of our stay!
I stayed at the hotel with my mom and sister for a little post-Mother’s Day vacation, and once we checked in, we immediately headed to the pool for afternoon cocktails and a little sunshine. After enjoying the view and pool area for a couple of hours, we headed back to our room to get ready for dinner. We had reservations at the hotel restaurant Hearth ’61 – the food was absolutely incredible and I’m sharing a few snaps of our meal below! After dinner, we enjoyed cocktails in the bar/lounge area before retiring for the night. The next morning, we enjoyed breakfast and lattes on the outside patio of Hearth ’61, and then I met up with my photographer friend, Brooke for some photos! It was a quick little staycation but I loved every second of it.
Overall, my experience with Mountain Shadows was perfect! I loved getting to see a different side of Arizona – it made me really appreciate where I came from and how beautiful the Southwest is. The staff at Mountain Shadows was superb and made us feel like complete royalty; I highly recommend anyone staying in the Paradise Valley / Scottsdale area to check out the resort. Whether it’s for a weekend trip, a local staycation, or even for just food and drinks, this will be the hottest new place in Arizona! Make your reservation here.

I instantly fell in love with the decor, the high ceilings and open space. I personally really liked that the floors were concrete (I have a thing for indoor concrete floors – is that weird?) and I officially found my dream shower. The room had a vanity area for getting ready, a separate sink area and a curtain to divide the room and bathroom. Once you entered the bedroom area, we had a lounge chair, a desk with a moveable bar cart underneath (BONUS!) and a huge glass door to our private patio.
What we ate:
Chilled Jumbo Shrimp
Short Rib Agnolotti (2 orders because it was BOMB)
Garden Roast
Coming up This Week with Mountain Shadows:
A look around the Mountain Shadows property
The bar and lobby area
The incredible pool and cabana area

Thank you Mountain Shadows for collaborating with me on this trip and post!
