It’s graduation week! Wow, that’s weird to say. I woke up today with mixed emotions of nostalgia, excitement, and nerves. I have tried typing out my thoughts in a graduation post for a couple weeks now but I always come at a loss of words when I open this post. The one thing I am sure of is though, I’m happy. I felt like I took a leap of faith leaving high school and attending one of the largest universities without my best friends or a real direction of what I wanted to do. But four years later I thank ASU and the people whom I’ve met that have helped make me the individual I am. A crazy little project, now known at Simply Audree Kate, would have never come alive, New York would not have happened, and I might have never been a redhead if it wasn’t for those people challenging and supporting me.
But, now for what I am unsure of, my future. I always thought I’d graduate with a dream job offer or my life figured out, but this past semester after many panicky phone calls to my mom, and praying, I realized that I have my whole life to figure out the future. There is no rule saying I need that dream job or that I have to accept the job that pays the most right after college. I have a dream, I’ve always had a dream, and that is to move somewhere and work within the fashion industry. I’m 98% sure I want that place to be New York, but you never know, maybe I’ll end up in California, or somewhere else – and that’s ok. Now that I’ve had the opportunity to close this collegiate chapter in my life, I’m now going to focus on the next chapter – adulthood.
I’m a planner. I love color-coded agendas, I plan ahead and am always the girl who has a game plan – but I’m excited to take some time to focus on me for a couple weeks, get my life more organized again and sleep more than 3 hours a night (but seriously). So this is my answer to the infamous “What are you doing?” that has been looming over my head the past eight month. I’m doing me, I’m excited to open a new chapter in my life, and most of all, I’m READY for this next exciting and crazy adventure. So I raise my glass to two degrees, a thesis, and a student organization I’m leaving ASU with – I gave ’em hell! Three cheers to graduation week!
