Day 7: Gourmet Gab and Simply Audree Kate's Ugly Sweater Party & DIY Ugly Sweater

A culinary genius and one of my very best friends, Gabriela Rodiles, writes the food blog Gourmet Gab. We collaborated for two of my favorite things to do during the holiday season: an ugly sweater and dinner party. Our closest friends helped us kick off the holiday season in true holiday “fashion”.

Gabi made mouth watering appetizers, desserts and cocktails for the night, I set up a photoshoot area and the apartment was decorated to a ‘T’ with a cute christmas tree and hanging decor. Check out our recipes and inspiration on our Pinterest board here to help plan your next holiday party.

For decorations, gold spray painted pinecones and glittery ornaments were hung from the ceiling with fishing wire, a miniature Christmas tree and photo booth area. I unrolled a sheet of wrapping paper and bought props from a dollar store to make the photo booth more festive!

————————————————————————————————————————

It’s that time of year again, where Christmas parties seem to happen every other day – and many of those parties seem to be an Ugly Christmas Sweater party. Now, you could simply go buy an ugly sweater and spend a lot of money, or maybe raid the closets of Mom and Grandma for one? But how about making one of your own? That’s always my favorite! Pinterest has a ton of inspiration for making your own sweater, so here is my Pinterest twist on how to make a cheap and funky ugly sweater by only using the craft supplies in your closet.

Materials
-a thrifted sweater
-puffy paint
-hot glue gun
-glitter
-winter press on appliqués (optional)

Steps
1. Hot press the appliqués onto the sweater
2. Puffy paint a design on the sweater  and add glitter on top (or let it dry by itself)
3. Draw snowflakes, or any other design, in hot glue, and cover with glitter.
4. Let dry/cool, and you have a perfect Ugly Christmas sweater to wear to any party

It’s really simple, and the sweater is completely personalized to you!
