Happy Monday! I realized over the weekend that I have gotten out of my New’s Year mojo a bit. I always try and embark on a new year, or new chapter with full speed, but the older I get, I have learned that I can’t physically and mentally do it all. Kudos to those people who can really do it all, but if 2016 taught me anything, it’s that it’s okay to walk away, say goodnight to a project or something, and start again tomorrow. I feel like my life has been in limbo the past few weeks. Blog projects were pushed to the side as I was focusing on work and fashion week; I am trying to actively swipe my gym membership more than twice a year (woohoo), and you know, still manage a social life. It’s a lot to fit into 24 hours! I felt the constant cloud of guilt that I wasn’t giving everything 110%, so in order to recharge, I took this weekend off. I ignored emails and unmanageable to-do lists, and rested. It felt so stinkin’ good. I am walking into today feeling excited to get back on track, tackle this week and the rest of February!
A little more about this outfit; this faux fur shawl is actually a giant piece of fabric I bought a couple years ago – with intention to sew into a vest – but was lazy and ended up cutting two arm slits and called it a day. How about that for DIY?! Fur vests and coats can end up being a huge expense, just for a “trend piece,” and I always prefer to invest in classic pieces, vintage pieces that are high quality, or accessories I can wear again and again. This fabric cost me around $10 from a fabric store – a mere fraction of the cost of a faux fur coat for winter. So next time you’re thinking about hoping on the trend train – whether that be faux fur, chokers or distressed denim – consider DIYing it to save money! There are so many things I love about this post I honestly don’t know where to start! This coat is amazing and its black and white which makes it so much easier to style with other wardrobe pieces. I have been looking for a cute fur coat, but most of them were dyed in a way where I could only wear them with certain things. Your clutch is so cute! I love the wine puns, almost as much as I love wine. Also I have always been nervous as a blogger to put too many pictures in a post. You’ve inspired me to not limit myself when it comes to pictures so my readers can really see the whole entire look.
