When I decided I wanted to finally take my move into the fashion scene a little over a year ago I never expected Phoenix to have the growing fashion community it does. Phoenix Fashion Week has helped capitalize the “new” fashion here in the valley. From fresh designers, bloggers, models and boutiques, the scene keeps growing and the community has been a great starting point for most as well as a home for others. Now every year the team from Phoenix Fashion Week travels to eight major cities to find the best new emerging designers. 12 designers enter a life changing experience as they design their own unique collection to debut in fashion week in hopes to win the grand prize to help take their business to next great levels.

On June 14th, PHXFW teamed up with Toni&Guy to host the announcement of the 12 designers for 2013. The venue was filled with accessory designer booths such as Melis Accessories and Special Guest Lewis from Bad Water Brewing who will be selling the winning accessory designer’s product. Next was the announcement of the designers. Each designer had one model showcasing a piece from their collection and then a press conference took place where the audience could ask the designers questions.
The ladies from Jaire were so sweet and we loved the meaning behind their collection and how they design for ALL types of women. From models on the runway to the ladies in a size 52, they are all about real women empowerment, sexiness and daring to stand out in a crowd. I’m excited to see more from them!
My favorite of the night was Michele Herbert with this one of a kind dress! Can you say stunning?! If her fall collection is just like her debut gown, I think Herbert will be a major competitor in the challenge.
