Good Vibin'

I’ve never been a shy kid – in preschool my mom would force me to walk up to other children and say, “Hi I’m Audree, want to be friends?” But, as simple and sometimes awkward as that was, it helped me as a young adult. I was the first to volunteer to be a group leader in school and I easily made small talk with strangers at networking events. I felt very lucky to have a close-knit network in Arizona but I realized that would change in New York. I’ve heard it’s hard to make friends after college – from long work days, relationships, etc, finding random friendships doesn’t happen as easy as it once was when sharing a plastic handle of nauseating vodka with a random girl at a house party…or was that just my friend group?

Last summer before I started my internship at Redbook, I reached out to a girl on LinkedIn who was also a Sigma Kappa, living in New York and working in Hearst Corporation. Within a week we realized we were both at the same publication, imagine that! Andie and I became fast friends and I’m lucky enough to now call her my roommate (Check out her new blog, Ginger Snap). And through Andie I met the adorable Miss Kayla (Kayla’s Five Things). I’m excited to say I have finally met my new city blogger besties! I loved my core group of blogger babes in Arizona and it makes me feel right at home having a couple girls here too!

Today we are teaming up with Zen Bird, an Arizona-based reversible headband company. Marian, Zen Bird founder, is seriously the coolest! She started the company to share good vibes, authentic living tips and wanted to remind you, “what we think, we become – choose the good thoughts!” We are each are sporting a Zen Bird headband and they’re great for a casual weekend in the park, like this post, doing yoga or if you have a bad hair day (personal regular offender).
