Hotel Diaries: Wedgewood Hotel & Spa in Vancouver

I have a confession: I now have the travel bug. I’ve always loved vacation and experiencing new places, but travel was never a huge part of my life during college and the first couple of years of adulthood. Now that I have the flexibility in my schedule, and a desire to break away from my previous monotonous and draining routine, I decided 2017 would be the year of travel, saying ‘yes’ and living life for myself. About a month ago, on Easter Sunday, I was grabbing brunch with my friend Shelby and we were discussing our quarter-life crises, freelance life, living in New York and what was next for us. Typical brunch talk over sangria and waffles you know? Shelby, who is also from Arizona, mentioned that she spontaneously bought a ticket to Vancouver for the following weekend and said I should join. Instead of mulling over it and being my “2016 Audree”, I instantly said ‘yes’ and got a ticket that night. I decided Vancouver would be the launch of my new travel component to Simply Audree Kate, and my life.

After doing some research about Vancouver, I instantly fell in love with Wedgewood Hotel & Spa – a luxury downtown boutique hotel in the heart of Vancouver. It is one of the only hotels in the city with private balconies and is known for their award-winning Bacchus Restaurant & Lounge.

We flew into Vancouver on a Saturday morning and left Monday afternoon – we spent three days and two nights at Wedgewood, and by the end of the trip, Shelby and I didn’t want to leave our (huge) suite with espresso machine, separate living room and probably one of the most comfortable hotel beds we have ever stayed in. Today I’m going to share a few snaps of the hotel, our room and talk a little bit about our weekend. Tomorrow, I’ll be sharing a post about our afternoon tea at Bacchus Restaurant & Lounge, and on Saturday I’ll be sharing our Vancouver adventures, including my first ever travel vlog!

Before we dive into today’s post, I wanted to give Wedgewood the biggest thank you for completely spoiling us during our trip. The entire staff was incredibly helpful, nice and we had the best time. Ok, now for the fun part!

When you arrive to the Wedgewood Hotel & Spa, you immediately feel like royalty. I was obsessed with the victorian lobby with a huge chandelier, fireplace and ornate artwork. In the lobby, you can also enter Bacchus, and up the stairs are the elevators to the rooms. We stayed in a one-bedroom suite with two beds and it was probably as big, if not bigger than my New York apartment haha. We had a separate living room with a couch, tv, desk area, a bathroom with a super nice spa tub, additional shower, and then the bedroom had two beds, access to the private balcony and plenty of closet space for our belongings.

Once we checked in on Saturday, we freshened up a bit and headed down to the restaurant for afternoon tea. After tea, I worked and answered emails while Shelby had a couple of work meetings in the area. We met up again, enjoyed the complimentary wine, chocolate and cookies the staff surprised us with and while we got ready for dinner. We then headed to dinner and drinks for the night. On Sunday, we woke up early, ate breakfast at a little cafe down the street and adventured out to the Capilano Suspension Bridge, Granville Island and then Gastown for shopping. On Monday, we explored the city a little more, visited Yaletown and headed to the airport. It was a quick, super fun and adventurous weekend! Make sure to tune in the next two days for more pictures from the weekend!

If you find yourself in Vancouver, I highly suggest you book your stay with Wedgewood! Shelby and myself thoroughly enjoyed our stay with them and cannot thank Wedgewood enough for making our trip so special! xo

  1. Beautiful…I have to say I go to Vancouver quite regularly (I only live 3 hours away), but I’ve never heard of this hotel. I’ll have to check it out next time. Glad you enjoyed Vancouver, it really is a great city.
