Winter can be extremely damaging to your skin and hair, so I wanted to share seven of my beauty essentials for winter that keep my hair soft and strong, and my skin moisturized and ready for anything! Do you have any winter beauty essentials? I’d love to hear the products you use, so comment below! xo
I was recently introduced to Carol’s Daughter, and I’m really in love with their Daily Damage Repair Set. It comes with their Almond Milk Sulfate-Free Shampoo, Conditioner and Almond Milk Ultra-Nourishing Hair Mask. I switch up my shampoo and conditioner every few months, and I’m obsessed with how soft and protected my hair feels after using their products. Last night I did the hair mask after washing my hair – I left it on for about 5 minutes while finishing up my shower – and after washing it out, my hair felt like I just walked out of the salon. My hair was damaged for so long after dying it red and bleaching it blonde, so I’m excited to continue to use this set to help nourish my hair when the cold weather is harsh.
I think I can speak for almost every woman, possibly even some men, when I say I hate shaving in the winter. Why spend an extra 5-10 minutes in the shower when you can just throw on some jeans and a sweater? Also, shaving when it’s cold is just a bad combo (goosebumps anyone?!). Enter Emjoi ERase! The Emjoi eRase is a hair remover tool that uses tweezers to remove hair from the root – not like your typical electronic shaver or manual razer. There are 60 tweezers mounted on dual opposed heads to make removing the unwanted hair faster and more comfortable. This process helps minimize the number of passes required to achieve smooth, silky, touchable skin. It also comes with a shaving attachment for trimming any hair – this is great because you can use this directly on your dry skin. I love the idea of using the Emjoi ERase during the winter for a longer, and more manageable fix to shaving. Buy it in the link above!
I have always had fairly dry skin, and struggled for many years finding a body lotion that didn’t instantly absorb or make my skin feel more dry. A couple years ago I started using Hempz moisturizer, and it’s been a love affair ever since. I immediately put on the lotion after I shower, and let the lotion lock in and dry before putting on any clothes. Hempz comes in a variety of flavors, but I typically stick to the original. You can find Hempz at most beauty supply stores, or online in the link above!
Ok great, so we have our body lotion covered, but what about those extra dry spots, or if you have eczema? My sister used to have really bad eczema on her arms while she lived in Minnesota, and discovered that Burt’s Bee Baby multipurpose ointment was a game changer. Don’t let the “baby” thing fool you, because this ointment helps soothe, lock in moisture and fight those hard, super dry places. Trust me!
In case you haven’t noticed, I wear a lot of lipstick; and that can be drying and rough on my lips during the winter. So when I’m not wearing lipstick for the day, and always before bed, I apply Smith’s Rosebud Salve to my lips. It protects them from drying out with the wind and cold weather and super easy and compact to throw in your purse or keep on your nightstand!
Do you have beanie or winter hair? It’s staticy, wind blown, dry, and just overall not that great? I always keep a shine oil in my vanity drawer to apply to my hair before going out in the cold weather. This helps lock in moisture, and gives my hair that smooth, shiny look and helps prevent that annoying beanie hair. You can also keep it in your purse and gingerly run a dime size amount through the bottom 3/4 of your hair when you get to your destined location. Make sure to avoid applying to your roots so your hair doesn’t look or get oily!
